    Rubio y Francesco kwam in contact met de muziek door zijn oom, die in het harmonieorkest van Bacoor speelde. Zijn eerste muzieklessen in solfège en klarinet kreeg hij bij pater Amando Buencamino. Op 8-jarige leeftijd werd hij als klarinettist opgenomen in het harmonieorkest van Bacoor. Kort erna schreef hij zijn eerste compositie "Unang Katas" voor dit harmonieorkest. In zijn High school tijd was hij lid van diverse orkesten in de regio en speelde ook in het orkest van het lyrisch theater, in het Trozo harmonieorkest en de Band Moderna in Tondo. Rond 1930 stichtte hij met anderen de "Anak Zapote Band". Hij werd dirigent van de ROTC Band van de University of the Philippines-Conservatory of Music tot hij afstudeerde in 1933.     Lifecycle

    Rubio y Francesco came into contact with the music by his uncle, who played in the harmonica orchestra of Bacoor. His first music lessons in solfège and clarinet he got with Pater Amando Buencamino. At the age of 8, he was included as a clarinetist in the harmonica orchestra of Bacoor. Shortly thereafter, he wrote his first composition "Unang Katas" for this concert orchestra. In his High School time he was a member of several orchestras in the region and also played in the orchestra of the lyrical theater, in the Trozo Harmony Orchestra and the Band Moderna in Tondo. Around 1930 he founded the "Anak Zapote Band" with others. He became conductor of the ROTC Band of the University of the Philippines Conservatory of Music until graduating in 1933.
