Agostino Carracci was an Italian artist and engraver.
He was the older brother of the more famous painter Annibale Carracci and the cousin of Lodovico Carracci, one of the most prominent artists and sculptors of the Bolognese school. Agostino Carracci depicted nature as ideal and flawless, and he founded a school that stood in contrast to the followers of Caravaggio, who portrayed a rougher look at nature.
Alongside his brothers, Agostino founded the Accademia degli Incamminati around , one of the first art academies in Italy and europe. The academy, and its graduates, helped the Bolognese school of painting establish a prominent place in Italian a
