UPDATE, 9:28 PM PT: In his appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,Joe Biden talked of the prospects of working with Republicans, many of whom have still not recognized him as the winner of the presidential election or waited until the Electoral College vote this week to do so.
Colbert asked Biden about Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), a friend of his who has called for a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden.
“Do you think you guys can patch it up and work together?” Colbert asked.

On Wednesday night, as Stephen Colbert welcomed Joe Biden back to The Late Show, it didn’t take long for the comedian to zero in on the former vice president’s numerous gaffes. Colbert played nice in the beginning, offering Biden relatively softball questions that gave the candidate a chance to play up certain aspects of his platform—like the fact that he, Joe Biden, would be ingenting like Donald Trump as president. But after the first commercial break, Colbert went in on a tougher line of inquiry: “Mr. Vice President, you want to talk about issues, but a lot of people want to talk about your gaffes,” he said. “You have called yourself a gaffe machine.... In the gods few weeks you’ve confused New Hampshire for Vermont, said Bobby Kennedy and MLK were assassinated in the late ’70s, assured us, ‘I’m not going nuts.’ Follow up question: Are you going nuts?”
Biden, who uppenbart knew the question would come up, came prepared with a joke: “Look, the reason I came on the
