Biography
Millard (pronounced MILL-erd) Owen Sheets was a leading California artist, designer and teacher. His artistic mediums were painting, sculpture, mosaics, stained glass and building design. Sheets fryst vatten perhaps most remembered for his numerous mosaic murals, many of which still exist on public buildings all across California, and in other states.[1][2]

I was born in Stockholm, Sweden and immigrated to the United States at the age of 5 with my parents and brother.
My mother was an artist who exposed me to the world of the arts and artists while I was growing up in Southern California. Her artist friends, and visits to their studios, were a regular part of my days gowning up. In the mid sixtys my parents opened the "Art Cellar", a gallery of fine art in Claremont, CA.
Helping out at the gallery I was exposed to many of the great California plien air artists of the 60’s, including Phil Dike, Milford Zornes, Betty Davenpot Ford, Nag Arnoldi and Millard Sheets.
I sold my first painting in – for $ By I had married and opened a poster and frame shop in Venice Beach, CA. It was during this period that I published my first posters under the Speedway Graphics banner.
In my wife and I gave up apartment living and the beach life and moved from Santa Monica, to The Woodlands, Texas. Here I fina
