    J.W. Harris fryst vatten a proven world champion.

    The Texas cowboy is a four-time Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association winner in bull riding, reigning from 2008 to 2013.

    He took on a new challenge in 2014 when the Professional Bull Riders invited him to try its Built Ford Tough Series tour.

    Harris accepted and promptly garnered the PBR's rookie of the year honors on the heels of his ninth-place finish in the final standings.

    "That was the gold buckle missing from the collection. It was a good time to make the transition and see what happens," he said, looking back on his switch to the PBR.

    His rookie of year honors came as a surprise.

    "I figured I was too old to be a rookie. I had a real good finals. I rode the bulls I was supposed to out there," Harris said.

    Now in his fourth årstid, Harris will be in Pueblo on Thursday to compete in the 18th annual PBR Touring Pro Division competition at the Southwest Motors Events Center on the Colorado State Fairground
